This is what emerges from the ranking of the Sole 24 Ore which today published the Crime Index in the Italian Provinces.
The critical issues related to safety
in large metropolitan areas
are confirmed in the ranking
, all among the top 20 provinces of the ranking. Bologna rises to second place, followed by Rimini and Prato for complaints per 100 thousand inhabitants.
Florence stands out for the most marked decrease in crimes in 2020, also in decline in the first six months of 2021. Padua is the one under the most pressure for drug offenses, Parma for shop robberies, Imperia for reported beating and malicious injuries. The complaints in the first six months of 2021 mark a + 7.5% on 2020 (-17% again on 2019) with more muggings, theft of cars and motorcycles, less in homes.
After the sharp decline in the months of lockdown,
even thieves and robbers seem to be back in action. If the numbers still seem reduced compared to 2019, thefts with snatches are back on the rise by 35%, and those of motorcycles and cars by 16%. On the other hand, the decline in home thefts continues compared to two years ago.
The
sexual assaults
were up 18% year on year, with an average of 13 complaints a day.
Urban violence and fights are also on the rise, with 224 episodes of threats and beatings every 24 hours.
