After Hollywood star Alec Baldwin's fatal shot at a camerawoman, new details about the accident on a film set became known.
As reported by the US broadcaster NBC, citing the interrogation protocol of director Joel Souza, Baldwin aimed directly at the camera during rehearsals for a film scene with a prop weapon.
When he fired the gun, cameraman Halyna Hutchins was fatally wounded.
Souza, who was behind Hutchins and was also shot, said in an affidavit, according to NBC, that the fatal shot came off when Baldwin pulled his gun and pointed it at the camera while rehearsing in a church.
Souza reported that he "looked over Halyna's shoulder" when he heard the shot.
The shot sounded "like a whip and then a loud crack."
Hutchins then complained of stomach pain and collapsed bleeding, the director said, according to the report.
He himself was also bleeding from one shoulder.
According to the report, the tragic incident occurred after a lunch break.
Souza said he was not sure whether the gun had been checked again after the break.
A cameraman testified that the incident was not captured on film as the cast and crew were preparing for the scene.
Baldwin had apparently accidentally shot 42-year-old Hutchins in the upper body while filming the western "Rust" in New Mexico.
Hutchins died shortly afterwards in the hospital.
48-year-old Souza was injured and released from hospital after treatment.
