Teeth are not something that can be overstated in importance: apart from their role in chewing food, they greatly affect our smile and the look of our face.

Over time, some of us lose teeth, whether as a result of severe receding gums due to gum disease, whether as a result of tooth neglect leading to tooth decay or from trauma, injury, accident and the like.

In these situations, we are forced to resort to dental implants, in order to regain our smile, our function, our chewing, and in fact our quality of life back.

Dental implants are an invasive surgical procedure, and as a result discourage quite a few people.

In the field of dental implants, however, many technological changes have appeared in recent years, which over time are becoming more and more profitable.

We spoke with Dr. Rafael Sarikov from the SedriSmile Clinic to learn about the innovations in the field of dental implants.

Computerized dental implants

"The term 'computerized dental implant' has been thrown into the air quite a bit in recent years," says Dr. Sarikov, "but not everyone understands what it exactly means. This is not a computer that performs the transplant, but a computer that helps perform the transplant. A computerized implant means the very pre-planning for the dental implant done on the computer, with the help of three-dimensional software that allows us to place the future implants exactly in the bone section that best suits us according to the pre-CT scan of the process.

Before the transplant, we scan the mouth using an intra-oral scanner and perform a CT scan.

With the help of these data we get an accurate three-dimensional mapping of the oral cavity;

This mapping makes it possible to plan the transplant procedure accurately.

Then, a surgical brace is printed on a 3D printer, in order to insert the implants through the brace accurately into the patient's jaw.

In the past and now in some clinics, the doctor would insert the implant according to what his eyes see, and according to his experience, and even if he was a very talented doctor, there were sometimes mistakes.

"Computer technology enables a much smoother and more predictable process, done with the utmost precision and with the least risk, customized to the patient's jaw."

PRF

"Another innovation that exists in the field of dental implants, although not very common yet," says Dr. Sarikov, "is the use of PRF (short for Platelet-Rich Fibrin, meaning platelet-rich fibrin).

The PRF assists in the procedures of guided regenerations and bone grafts, for those suffering from bone deficiency, and actually aids in the process of absorption of the fusion and absorption of the bone graft in the jaw.

The procedure performed is to take blood from the patient, into special test tubes that rotate in a special centrifuge, which separates the blood into different phases and isolates the fibrin and platelets.

We assimilate this product into the bone tissue implanted in the patient;

"Since the tissue is enriched with the patient's platelets, the patient's body receives the tissue more naturally, and the recovery is done in a better way."

Osseodensification drills

“Many patients are appalled only by hearing the sounds of the dentist's drill,” says Dr. Sarikov. “However, drills and practices today are much more advanced, much more pleasant, and much less painful. Beyond that, in recent years, special drills with particularly advanced technology have come into use in the world of dental implants: OSSEODENSIDICATION drills. Although they look like regular drills, they are made of a special material and rotate counterclockwise, which helps preserve the bone and compress it, that is, they do not remove any bone (like standard drills), but increase the initial stability of the implant in which they drill, thus helping Accelerating the duration of recovery and accelerating the implant absorption process.

"Also, these drills help with regenerative procedures such as widening the ridge, and minimally invasive sinus levels. There is no doubt that these drills have changed the face of the world of dental implants,And today every advanced clinic uses these drills and they are only gaining more and more momentum. "
