A murderer who fled after being released from a prison in Zweibrücken was caught by Interpol in the Dominican Republic.

The 55-year-old woman had not returned to prison on October 14 after being released from prison, the police said on Monday.

The police immediately searched for her and tracked her escape route.

On the day of her escape, she and her husband had fled to the Dominican Republic.

There the couple checked into a hotel in the resort of Punta Cana.

Convicted of community murder

On Thursday she was arrested by the Federal Criminal Police Office and Interpol Santo Domingo without resistance, it said.

She has been back in Germany since Sunday.

In 2006, the woman instigated an acquaintance in Saarland to kill her ex-husband.

For this she was sentenced a year later by the Saarbrücken regional court to life imprisonment for collective murder.
