Many details about the fatal accident during the shooting of the western film "Rust" are still unclear.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died after being hit by a bullet.

The US media repeatedly referred to a dummy pistol.

Now she has made it clear to the responsible public prosecutor: This designation, which was also found in the investigators' first notes, is misleading.

Mary Carmack-Altwies told the New York Times that it was a "real gun": "It was an antique pistol that fits the era." Actor and producer Alec Baldwin had used the gun, apparently in the Assume this is uncharged and safe.

The incident occurred in New Mexico last Thursday, when the 42-year-old Hutchins died in the hospital.

At this point, according to Carmack-Altwies, charges in the case are also possible.

“At the moment everything is possible, including criminal consequences.

We haven't ruled out anything. "

The focus is currently on ballistic examinations.

The aim is to determine what kind of projectile was in the weapon from which the fatal shot fell on Hutchins.

Another central question is who loaded this projectile into the pistol.

When the film set was searched, "considerable amounts of ammunition were found," the New York Times quoted.

Now it has to be determined what type of ammunition it is.

In addition, three revolvers have been seized, with used and unused cartridges.

In the eyes of the investigators is, among other things, an assistant director who had handed Baldwin the gun.

According to the current status, this assistant had declared that the weapon was "cold", so it was not dangerous.

According to the police, he did not know that there was live ammunition in the gun.

Assistant was fired in 2019

As it was recently announced, the assistant director had already been dismissed from a film production in 2019 due to a gun accident.

The company Rocket Soul Studios announced on Tuesday.

In the incident on the set of the film "Freedom's Path" a weapon "unexpectedly discharged," as CNN reported.

A member of the sound crew was slightly injured and treated by a paramedic.

The person returned to the set a few days later.

The assistant director was released on the day of the incident.

CNN reported on further allegations from 2019 in the production of the series "Into the Dark".

At that time, too, three men were assistant director.

There were complaints about him from the crew, among other things because he had not complied with the safety rules for the use of weapons and pyrotechnics.

Stunt double is said to have accidentally fired shots

The Los Angeles Times had previously reported that employees on the set of Rust had complained about inadequate safety precautions and poor working conditions.

According to this, Baldwin's stunt double accidentally shot twice with a gun a few days before the accident.

As things stand, there were no injuries.

Alec Baldwin himself had already commented on the fatal incident on Twitter on Friday.

He wrote: "There are no words to express the shock and sadness at the tragic accident that ended the life of Halyna Hutchins - wife, mother and deeply admired colleague."
