Warning in Germany: Counterfeit coffee currently in circulation - where does the product come from?
The Nestlé company is currently warning customers about counterfeiting of a soluble coffee branded “Nescafé Gold”.
The product is in a container that looks like an outdated version of Nescafé Gold.
“It was not commercially available in the form of the counterfeit product.
The shape of the glass has also not been used for Nescafé Gold for years, ”said Nestlé in a statement on Friday (October 22).
The company advises that the product was neither manufactured nor sold by Nestlé.
It can currently be assumed that the coffee was sold at weekly markets and smaller shops.
Specific details, such as who might have made the coffee, are not available (more recalls and warnings * at RUHR24).

Nestlé has already reached out to the relevant authorities asking them to investigate and stop this criminal activity.
The fake can be distinguished from the original based on the following characteristics:
The counterfeit product's EAN code is 405500210900
The batch number is 60820814B1 9:15 with the best before date (BBD) 10-21
In addition, the packaging of the counterfeit coffee looks very different from the container in which Nestlé currently sells its product.

Counterfeit coffee in circulation in Germany: health hazard for customers
The counterfeit coffee should not be consumed under any circumstances as there is a suspicion that the product may contain broken glass and plastic.
This poses a significant health risk for customers in Germany.
Glass and plastic fragments can cause injuries in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract and cause internal bleeding there.
Affected customers should not exchange the counterfeit coffee, but call the police
Nestlé itself is more than shocked by the incident: “We are shocked by the criminal activities and deeply condemn the fact that our brand has been illegally counterfeited and marketed.
The quality and safety of our products are our top priority, ”the company announced on Friday.
Customers who bought the counterfeit coffee and have them at home are advised to notify the police immediately.
