Caregivers and health professionals demonstrated in the streets of Fort-de-France at the call of trade unions to denounce

The vaccination obligation for caregivers led to a major demonstration in the streets of Fort-de-France in Martinique on Monday.

Supported by firefighters, taxi drivers or even by funeral directors, nearly a thousand caregivers and employees of the Martinique CHU but also nurses and pharmacy employees marched.

According to the schedule of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) on the implementation of the vaccination obligation and the health pass, it was expected that each caregiver should have received his first dose from the beginning of the week.

“The suspensions have started in some pharmacies where employees now know they can no longer work if they are not vaccinated.

The requests for exemptions have not been validated, ”explained pharmacy employees.

"Think of the patients"

If uncertainties persist on the effective application of suspension measures by the management of the CHU, the dialogue remains tense, since strikers and hospital workers have been exercising their right of withdrawal for several weeks.

Even if as a sign of appeasement, the controls at the doors of the hospital have already disappeared since Wednesday.

The management of the hospital launched an appeal to find "the peace and quiet of care in the hospital.

“Think of the patients.

The freedom to demonstrate is a fundamental right but it must be expressed outside the CHUM, ”tweeted the prefecture of Martinique.

For his part, Serge Letchimy, the president of the executive council of Martinique, launched on Saturday a call for mediation to bring serenity to the CHU.

In an attempt to calm the discontent, Olivier Véran, the Minister of Health announced this Tuesday, during an intervention in the Senate, a mediation in Martinique.

Satisfied that the @gouvernementFR responds favorably to my request for the establishment of a #Martinique mediation.

This mediation is essential to find the path of dialogue in our territory.

A serene and salutary dialogue.
