The San Carlo-Unichips food group, based in Milan, has suffered a hacker attack through a ransomware, a particular type of malware that limits the access of the infected system and prepares the release only after the payment of a ransom.
The company's computer systems were hit last Friday and yesterday a complaint was filed with the Lombardy Postal Police department.
According to what ANSA has learned, it is the Conti ransomware, belonging to a recent malware family and already under observation since 2020. The attack, which would not have created significant damage to the San Carlo group, would have been claimed on the deep web.
"The umpteenth ransomware attack, which involves the San Carlo food group, demonstrates the persistence of criminal gangs towards Italy. We analyzed 80 large Italian companies in the food, fashion and automobile sectors and discovered that 50% is at risk of ransomware due to Internet exposure of their systems, software security holes and related data stolen from the control of the interested parties ": is the comment of Marco Ramilli, founder and CEO of the security company Yoroi, on the news of attack suffered by the food group.
