Not to believe, but twenty years have passed since Yatir Winery was opened, in a joint venture between the area's winemakers, the Winegrowers' Association and Carmel Winery (then still known as "Carmel Mizrahi"). Yatir is located in the southern Judean hills, coming from the Negev, and enjoys blessed land data in the context of growing wine grapes. The Yatir Winery is signed by veteran CEO Yaakov Ben Dor and winemaker Eran Goldwasser, and 150,000 bottles are produced there every year.

Stylistically, Yatir has always carried wines in the spirit of the new wine world. Australian wines. All wines are impeccably made and technically close to perfection. In many "New World" wineries, the wines are technically flawless but sacrifice the character component of the wines in favor of the winemaker's influence. Have a clear character and manage to be different from each other as well.

Excess wines are not cheap, but for the most part, the value for money is at least realistic.

In the base wines from the "Mount Amasa" series, the value is definitely good.

These are not everyday wines to sip on the road, alongside the pizza that only arrived with a courier in the evening, but wines that should accompany a sunken meal.

Most reds have a statute of limitations of at least five years.

Even old-world wine lovers, who prefer a lush and less extroverted style, acquire much respect for excess, and rightly so.

This is a winery where impressive work is being done and on its twentieth anniversary it is worthwhile and should definitely be saluted to its entrepreneurs and captains.

for life!

Yatir, Mount Amasa White 2019

Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:

dry white based on 65% Viognier, 20% Chenin Blanc and 15% Roseanne from vineyards in Yair Yatir.

8-month fermentation and aging on the yeast in concrete amphorae, large wooden barrels (oak and acacia) and stainless steel tanks.

Slightly greenish golden color.

In the nose white fruit and tropical fruit.

Medium-full body.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

Some?

NIS 100.

Best for:

fish, seafood and chicken.

What the reviewer said: The

flu of white fruit, which is present in the nose, also takes its place in the palate.

These are their ripe fruits in addition to a noticeable melon touch.

Balance acidity is not too sharp and subtle bitterness and hint at the end.

An extroverted white who still knows how to maintain a degree of restraint and combines classic Mediterranean expressions with the characteristics of a "new world".

Value for money:

3.5 / 5 (good).

Yatir, Mount Amasa Red 2018

Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:

34% Syrah, 22% Merlot, 17% Petit Verdot as well as Malbec, Tennate and Cabernet Franc in small quantities.

The products of each variety were aged for about a year separately, in small and large oak barrels.

Purple red color.

In the nose red fruit, spices and a little smoking.

full body.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Some?

NIS 100.

Best for:

Minute Steak.

Steaks.

BBQ.

What the reviewer said:

The most prominent feature here is the fruitiness, which manages to be lush, quite rich but also maintain a degree of freshness.

Relative to the heavier red cannons, described here below, this wine is the light, cheerful and happy brother, who is almost asked to sip it - in a slightly cheeky challenge to all the rules - when it is a little chilled.

Value for money:

3.5 / 5 (good).

In five words:

"on the fire" wine is most worthy.

Yatir, Patti Verdo 2018

Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:

100% Petit Verdot.

12 months aging in oak barrels.

Purple red color.

In the nose red fruit, flowers, vanilla and licorice.

full body.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Some?

145 shekels.

Best for:

Steaks.

What the reviewer said:

A well-built body, prominent roundness, great elegance, velvety and plenty of ripe but not too dense fruit.

A "new world" wine from the so-called "hedonistic" genre, made flawlessly and with clear excellence.

Potential aging of five to seven years.

Value for money:

2.5 / 5 (realistic).

In four words:

round, lush, velvety and elegant.

Yatir, Nahal Yatir Adom 2018

Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:

73% Syrah, 11% Cabernet Franc, 7% Morbedre, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Grenache.

Aging year in large wooden tanks (3800-5400 liters).

Purple red color.

In the nose red and black fruit, spices and a noticeable smoky touch.

full body.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Some?

NIS 150

Best for:

Bone chunks of bone, long-aged.

What the reviewer said:

Along with the noticeable presence of spices (black pepper, cloves) and the distinct red fruit, there is also a smoky touch.

Alongside all this is a significant balancing acidity.

A wine that, despite its clear mass, also manages to convey a clear degree of freshness.

Will carry well any serious meat meal.

The statute of limitations is up to eight years.

Value for money:

2.5 / 5 (realistic).

In four words:

a very worthy meat wine.

Yatir, Yatir White River 2019

Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:

54% Chenin Blanc and 46% Viognier.

8 months of fermentation and aging in oak and acacia barrels and stainless steel tanks.

Light golden color.

In the nose white fruit, lime and herbs.

full body.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

Some?

150 shekels.

Best for:

fish, seafood, oysters and white meats.

What the reviewer said:

White fruit and citrus are very concentrated, nice acidity.

The mineral dimension is secondary relative to the fruit.

A degree of sweetness.

This is a white wine with clear "new world" characteristics, which those who are looking for minutes and considerable dryness in their dry white will connect with it less.

For lovers of the genre this is, of course, a lush, elegant and excellent wine in every way.

Value for money:

2/5 (a little too expensive).

In six words:

a distinct white of the new wine world.

(Photo: PR)

Yatir, Yatir Forest 2018

Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:

65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc selected classes from vineyards in the Yatir Forest. 15 months aging in French oak barrels, a third of which are new. Deep red color. In the nose red, black fruit, spices, tobacco, espresso and dark chocolate. full body. 14.5% alcohol by volume.

Some?

NIS 250

best for:

stale meats on the bone, lamb and beef stews, lamb shank in the oven.

What the reviewer said:

Yatir Forest is always a celebration wine.

Even those who are less attached to the obvious extrovert style can not help but marvel at the richness and fan of the aromas and flavors it slices.

This is an elegant wine that manages to maintain a clear and distinct character and does not feel too technical.

Flag wines are always expensive and this section tends, therefore, to omit the value for money clause when it comes to discussing them.

Still, compared to local flagship red wines at similar prices, this wine definitely delivers a lot.

Wine-wine, which is just beginning its life.

The aging potential, under proper storage conditions, reaches even 10-12 years.

In two words:

wine-wine.
