(ANSA) - SYDNEY, OCTOBER 27 - Australia will eliminate the ban for its citizens to travel abroad without authorization, imposed 18 months ago due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and by the end of the year it will open its borders to skilled workers and foreign students. The government announced it.
The decision, announced by the Ministries of Health and the Interior, comes when the percentage of adults who have completed the vaccination cycle approaches the target of 80%. A travel 'bubble' with Singapore has also been announced: Qantas flights to the city-state should resume on 22 November.
For nearly 600 days, countless international flights were blocked and very few Australians were allowed to leave the country.
Many families have been separated by different incontinence, tens of thousands of citizens have been stuck overseas, and foreigners residing in Australia have not been able, all this time, to see friends or distant relatives.
In the meantime, Australia has authorized the administration of a third booster dose of vaccines to all over 18s starting at the beginning of November.
