The
Waldorf salad
is a classic
salad in
American cuisine and has nothing to do with Waldorf education.
The name is derived from its place of origin, the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
This was founded by the descendants of emigrants from Waldorf (in Baden).
Back to the salad: This convinces with
autumn and winter ingredients rich in vital substances
such as celeriac or celery, apples, walnuts and grapes.
With this recipe * for Waldorf salad you are supplied with the most important vitamins even in autumn - and thanks to fresh fruit and vegetables and a light yoghurt dressing, the whole thing tastes delicious too.

Recipe for Waldorf Salad: You need these ingredients
Servings: 3
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Difficulty level: easy
3 celery stalks or 1 small celery bulb
2 small apples (sour variety like Braeburn or Elstar)
1 handful of grapes
1 handful of walnuts
100 g natural yogurt
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt and pepper

Clean and cut the celery stalks into small pieces.
Or peel the celeriac and coarsely grate it.
Wash, core and cut the apples into cubes.
Cut the grapes in half.
Roughly chop the nuts.
For the dressing, mix the yogurt with lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Put all the prepared ingredients and dressing in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
Tip:
Let the Waldorf salad sit for a few hours, then it will taste even better.
