The limit value of a hazardous chemical has been exceeded in a trekking food.
Sporting goods manufacturer Decathlon is recalling the product.
Germany - Recall at Decathlon: As part of safety and quality controls, the Forclaz own brand team discovered that the trekking food “rice with chicken curry” poses a potential safety risk.
The company announced.
The determined ethylene oxide content would therefore be above the permitted limit value for the product.
“As a preventive measure, we decided to recall the product,” the company announced.
Ethylene oxide is used, among other things, as a disinfectant for food.
It is considered toxic and carcinogenic.
Symptoms of poisoning include headache, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.
