In 2014, François Hollande wanted to extend the license fee beyond television.
Nothing happened.
Since the start of Emmanuel Macron's term of office, the subject has been put back on the table several times.
Without further success.
Tuesday evening, as noted by
La Correspondance de la presse,
the Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot confirmed to the National Assembly that the reform of the TV license was not for 2022.
"The Eternal Beginning"
It is no longer so urgent since the disappearance of the housing tax, to which it is backed, will not take place before 2023. In addition, the income from this TV license, which amounts to some 3 billion dollars. euros per year, remains dynamic.
But the 2023 deadline now makes this reform essential.
