(ANSA) - NEW YORK, OCTOBER 27 - The costumes of the highly followed Netflix Squid Game series will probably be among the most popular for the Halloween party, but not in elementary schools in the Fayetteville-Manlius district, in the state of New York. In fact, three principals sent an email to the pupils 'parents, saying that red clothes and black masks are banned due to the Korean series' "violent message". The restriction came after school principals in the Syracuse area explained that the students were playing a version of the survival game that caused a lot of controversy. Squid Game (literally 'the game of the squid') tells the story of a group of people who risk their lives in a deadly survival game to win the prize pool of 45.6 billion won, equal to about 33 million euros.
After its September debut on Netflix, around 111 million viewers followed the episodes, making it the most popular series ever on the platform, but also sparking a lot of violence due to its violent nature.
