Invited on this Thursday on Franceinfo, the Minister of Overseas Sébastien Lecornu returned to the sensitive issue of the health pass in public hospitals in Martinique.

The compulsory vaccination for caregivers had led to a major demonstration in the streets of Fort-de-France at the beginning of the week.

Above all, the management of the Martinique CHU had underlined in an internal note that "all staff" of the Fort-de-France CHU "could enter their service" with or without a health pass, inviting those who are not vaccinated "to take a screening test ”.

"An unfortunate position", deplored this Thursday the minister who supported the director "targeted by death threats".

"A tolerance over time"

Wanting to reassure, Sébastien Lecornu assured that the vaccination obligation for caregivers applied well "to all the territories of the Republic" and therefore to the CHU of Martinique.

"Things are progressing" in the overseas territories he pleaded, referring to "95% of the vaccinated caregivers" of the CHU of Pointe-à-Pitre, in Guadeloupe, and "more than 70%" of medicine liberal in the West Indies.

Finally, the Minister however recognized "a tolerance on the time to fulfill this vaccination obligation" in Overseas.

"We asked for flexibility because the epidemic continues to circulate very strongly and there was no question of closing a certain number of hospital services because caregivers are not vaccinated," he said.

“The vaccination of caregivers is progressing, but it was made against the backdrop of threats and disturbances in Martinique which are scandalous.

It is not the system that must be questioned but we must condemn agitators of all stripes, ”he continued.
