November 1st, 10 million on the road, 90% remain in Italy

(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 28 - There will be 10 million and 535 thousand Italians (including adults and minors) who will send out on the occasion of the All Saints' Bridge. 90.5% Italian will stay in Italy while 9.5% will go abroad. Almost 70% of those who will remain in Italy (69.8%) will remain in the same region of residence. It emerges from the forecast survey by Federalberghi. Those who will stay in Italy will primarily choose the locality of art (27.7%), the mountains (22.5%) and the sea (20.5%).


   For those going abroad, the most sought-after destinations will be the large European capital (63.0%). The average expenditure, including transport, accommodation, food and entertainment, will be around 388 euros per person (363 euros in Italy and 558 abroad). The total turnover will amount to approximately 3.16 billion euros.


   Overnight expenses account for 22.2% of the budget; travel expenses for 19.1%, and those relating to meals for 28.7%. The largest chapter of expenditure (30.0%) concerns the other items (shopping, entertainment, etc). The average length of stay will be 3.4 nights spent away from home. The home of relatives and friends will be the preferred choice for 26.4% of holidaymakers; followed by the hotel (23.5%) and, well spaced, the house owned (18.1%) and the bed & breakfast (14.4%). 40.5% of the interviewees stated that they contact the accommodation directly to book their stay via the website, telephone or e-mail. 47.8% declare that they have given up on vacation due to lack of money; 34.6% for family reasons and 25.5% for health reasons.


   "If a good day starts in the morning - explains the president of Federalberghi Bernabò Bocca - the fact that over ten million of our compatriots have decided to dedicate themselves to a holiday, to commit time and money to this enterprise, this can only be a sign of light, in short, of great resumption. Even if we cannot yet say that we are out of the tunnel. It is a positive surge due to the Italian movement. With the decree made official in yesterday's CDM, the hotels are preparing to build the future for 2022, hoping that the foreign tourism becomes central again ".
