Actor Matthias Schweighöfer chatted about comparisons with pop star Justin Timberlake of the same age during his first appearance on the "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".
When moderator Fallon presented him with an article headline in which he was referred to as the "German Justin Timberlake", Schweighöfer said: "I no longer know whether someone called me that or whether I said that myself."
In an interview with the lifestyle magazine »Square Mile« last year, Schweighöfer replied to the question of what people do not know about him: »I am a great dancer!
They call me Justin Timberlake of Germany ... or not. «In the case of Jimmy Fallon, Schweighöfer said that the comparison had come about because he was also a good, if shy dancer - as proof he danced with Fallon in the studio .
Schweighöfer presents new film
In the talk show, which was broadcast on Thursday (local time), the 40-year-old presented his new film "Army of Thieves", in which he was involved as a director and leading actor.
The action romance "Army of Thieves", a prequel to the zombie film "Army of the Dead", was released on Friday by streaming provider Netflix.
“I'm glad you're making it big in America now and we can see how charming and talented you are,” Fallon said.
The actor, who was born in Anklam, said he was proud that his humor was also understood in the United States.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he was enthusiastic about American comedy series, and named "The Prince of Bel-Air" as a favorite.
Schweighöfer hopes for a career in Hollywood, but does not want to limit himself to directing, as he said in an interview with the Funke media group.
He has a team in the USA that "pushes" him.
Asked by Fallon about positive reviews for his films and comparisons with the famous US directors Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese, Schweighöfer said with a wink: "I could be Wes Matthias Scorsese."
