Doctor explains if there is such a thing as the "good side" of the face (@rileyballingerr / TikTok / @lifeofadoctor / TikTok)
Most of us live in complete faith that we have a good side and a bad side - not just in personality.
When the camera is aimed at us, we will know in advance which side of our face is being photographed more beautifully and we will make sure to turn our head in the right direction.
Years of looking in the mirror and a careful examination of images led us to this conclusion.
Quite absurdly, people around us anyway do not notice what is the good or least good side of our face, so it is mostly in our head.
A certified doctor who is very popular with Tiktok explains that scientifically - it is indeed in our head.
The madness began when the cartoonist rileyballingerr demonstrated the "noticeable difference" between the two sides of her face.
Her video garnered millions of views and encouraged many others to compare their sides and prove the differences.
A doctor from Miami known as Tiktok lifeofadoctor, used the original video to answer the question - do we really have a more beautiful side?

The answer is yes, roughly.
The doctor explained that our "good side" is usually the left side of the face - and this is in light of a phenomenon known as "left side tilt".
He explained: "The right side of the brain controls emotions and expression, but it also controls the left side of your face. Therefore, the left side of your face is better able to express emotions, which people find aesthetically more beautiful."
Alongside the video he also explained that this phenomenon is the main reason why historically 60 percent of the portraits show the left side of the face.

Many thanked the doctor for resolving the dispute, although a number of users rejected his theory on the grounds that they actually preferred their right side.
The doctor did not offer an explanation to the right, but one suggested in the comments that if in doubt - just look straight at the camera and remove any worries that your ugly side will be exposed to the camera flash.
