(ANSA) - BRAZIL, 02 NOV - On the occasion of the COP26 in Glasgow, the Brazilian Foreign Minister, Carlos França, affirmed that the government of Jair Bolsonaro is committed to reducing carbon emissions. In this regard, he would have also received praise from the United States government.
"Brazil is part of the solution to environmental problems and has demonstrated it with its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030", said the minister in an interview with CNN Brasil.
França then stressed that Brazil has "a serious and concrete ambition" for a green economy and that this position was defended yesterday in Scotland by the Environment Minister, Joaquim Leite.
"I have just received messages from Alok Sharma, (president of Cop26, ed) and John Kerry (special representative of the United States for the climate, ed), as well as from European ambassadors, very satisfied with the commitments that Brazil has made in the carbon area", declared the diplomat.
Finally, França commented that "together with more than 80 countries we will sponsor the agreement for the reduction of dimethane emissions".
