TESTIMONIAL - In December 2020, this 19-year-old joined the youth guarantee. A device which is largely inspired by the youth engagement contract (CEJ) presented on Tuesday.

If I hadn't found the local mission and the youth guarantee, I don't know what I would do today

 ”.

Salou is 19 years old and like more than 100,000 young beneficiaries in 2021, this passionate football fan with a deep voice has joined this support system towards employment.

In the summer of 2020, the day after his professional baccalaureate in electricity trades, he could not find a BTS and found himself with nothing.

A situation that worries him.

To discover

  • Energy check: all you need to know about the aid scheme which concerns nearly 5.8 million households

  • Prime Macron 2021: how does it work?

A friend then whispers to him the existence of local missions which can support him in his search for training and even employment, if he wishes to join the labor market directly.

Without waiting, either from the fall of 2020, the young man will therefore register with the agency of his district.

My advisor told me about a device that allows you to receive an allowance while following a support path: the youth guarantee.

I obviously accepted,

”says Salou.

In December, he joined a “

promotion

” of around ten people to start the first part of the program, ie collective support. But Covid obliges, by videoconference. “

It was not easy to do this from home. But that reassured me because I told myself that I was not alone in this situation and during this complicated period

, ”he explains. During two weeks Salou follows different workshops. Some to make a CV, others to gain oral fluency or still others to understand notions of labor law.

Then comes the individual part, which makes it possible to really target the needs of each young person.

And for Salou, despite his diploma in his pocket, some doubts remain about his willingness to continue on his initial path.

After having thought about it with his referent, he decides to go into business, has an interview, then a trial day and obtains a seven-month fixed-term contract with Carrefour.

He then discovered the world of work. “

For the first time, I got a salary and discovered the value of work. I opened up to others because I had to communicate more as part of my relationship with clients. It was a real revelation for me,

”he explains. After presenting himself to a jury, Salou obtains the qualification sought. With his diploma in hand, he can now apply as a commercial employee and have an easier time being recruited.

But these last months and the end of his fixed-term contract at the end of the summer has made us think about his desires.

From now on, he would like to continue his journey through civic service and work in humanitarianism.

One of my brothers works in the field of care.

I too would like to make myself useful to others,

”he concludes.
