In a rail accident in northwest Hesse, four cows were hit by a train and killed.
The regional train was almost derailed, said the federal police in Kassel on Wednesday.
Accordingly, the herd ran on Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. on the route between Brilon in North Rhine-Westphalia and Korbach in the Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg on the tracks.
Despite the emergency braking, the train driver was no longer able to prevent a collision.
The train did not stop until after 600 meters.
The impact raised the wheels in the front bogie slightly.
Eight passengers were on the train at the time of the accident.
You were unharmed.
The route was closed for around three hours and there were delays.
The officials are now investigating the owner of the cows - because of a possible dangerous interference in rail traffic.
