Louis Peres from "Germinal": "I dream of working in the United States"

2021-11-03T11:30:56.598Z

The young actor, who shines in the series of France 2, sees life in a big way and gives himself the means of his ambitions.

In the middle of a 5-star cast, he manages to burst the screen.

At 25, Louis Peres plays Étienne Lantier, the hero of "Germinal", whose episodes 3 and 4 are broadcast on France 2 this Wednesday from 9:05 pm.

What to reveal itself in the eyes of the general public after more confidential roles.

However, the young actor who graduated from Cours Florent only three years ago has continued to shoot since then, from “How I became a superhero” (Netflix), to “Honey cigar” (released in theaters on October 6), through two seasons of “Mental” (on France.tv/slash).

He has also already boxed “les Sentinelles” (series expected on OCS next year), as well as “Tropiques” by Édouard Sallier (scheduled for theaters in 2022). Not to mention a three-month training course in a theater school in English: "I have a very assumed dream of going to the United States, of working with the Americans," he says.

However, nothing predestined him to become an actor: “My father works in the hotel industry and my mother in management.

In my family, no one comes from an artistic background.

However, from his childhood, young Louis had a gift for entertaining the gallery.

“At home, there is the tradition of the Sunday meal where, at noon, the whole family is there… I did imitations, sketches.

When I was 16, my mother sent me to do an internship with Jean-Laurent Cochet

(director and theater actor, who died on April 7, 2020).

I was lazy, I intentionally arrived three hours late, but as soon as I put my foot on the set, the silence settled in the room, I said to myself

OK, c is what I want to do.

"

"This kid, I absolutely want him"

To make this desire come true, he decides to wait until he finishes high school. Three years he has flown over ... cheating! “With two friends, I had stolen the keys from my director, so I had all the subjects of the white bac and the quizzes, I sold them… I also wanted to steal the subjects of the bac, but I didn't succeeded because we didn't have the safe code. I still had my ES bac with 11 average. "

His arrival in "Germinal", he was the first not to bet on it.

“I knew that all of Paris, all my friends were casting.

I went there telling myself

anyway, it won't be you

.

"David Hourrègue, the director of the series, remembers this audition very well:" He arrived at 9:30 am, he could not keep still.

I asked him if he wanted a rehearsal, he said

no, I'm ready.

He started, it was completely insane.

He asked me if I wanted another take, I said

no,

he said

OK, hi

and he left.

I turned to my colleagues and said:

This kid, I absolutely want him.

"

"I brought my doubts closer to those of my character"

These two really found each other. “I am eternally anxious about work, admits Louis Peres. I always work everything with coaches, I repeat every comma, every line. Three weeks before the shoot, I know the whole script like a play. David Hourrègue does exactly the same thing, he's a bully of work. In addition, with the Covid, we lived in the same house during the shooting, we really became friends. "

However, it is not easy to stand out against actors like Thierry Godard, Alix Poisson, or Guillaume de Tonquédec.

“I wondered if I was going to be up to the task,” says Louis Peres.

I asked myself a lot of questions and I understood that Etienne, my character, was also asking himself these kinds of questions:

Am I going to live up to the revolution, the expectations of others?

I brought my doubts closer to his and I built around this fragility.

A great success in view of the result where the breath of the young actor takes everything in its path.
