'Milanese' lifestyle to the tastes of New Yorkers

and visitors to the Big Apple without going to Milan .


    Under the motto of 'Eat Like a Milanese' (eat like a Milanese) the menu of Bar Milano is a tribute to the dishes typically served in the city considered by many to be the 'New York of Italy'.


    From risotto to agnolotti to cutlet or ossobuco, each dish represents a piece of an Italian culinary tradition not always known abroad.

with the names of the dishes in dialect

. The appetizers are in fact described as 'tant per incumincià' and among the specialties there are mondeghili, meatballs made with leftover meat, or vitello tonnato. Among the risottos (I risott), the resolved al SALTO (Riss al salt), an omelette made with the leftovers of saffron risotto and then moving on to the most famous dishes of Milanese cuisine (I Piatt a la Milanesa) such as the Milanese cutlet ( la cutuleta a la milanesa) elephant ears or all'Ossobuco (obus).

    Expression of the Milan to drink is the famous Negroni cocktail, offered in different variations and prepared at the table. Although the cocktail was created in Florence, Milan boasts of having perfected it and it is no coincidence that it is one of the main ones in what is another of the Milanese traditions, namely the aperitif. At the end of the dinner, the Milanese experience can be said to be complete after a vast selection of bitters in the same way as the Negroni brought to the table on a trolley.


The interior design, which faithfully reconstructs a mid-century modern dining room dominated by a rounded marble counter, pays homage to the Milanese art and design scene with reproductions such as Otto, L'Oca (1967) by Enzo Mari and works by Bruno Munari.

The collection also includes contemporary pieces by the Milanese artist Olimpia Zagnoli.

From emerald leather seats to warm brass hardware, the aesthetic evokes the old-world glamor of Milan.
