A policewoman from Saxony-Anhalt is no longer active in the police service because of her proximity to the imprisoned assassin from Halle an der Saale.

According to SPIEGEL information, she applied to be released herself at the end of October.

The "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" had previously reported.

The early 20-year-old woman had worked as a probationer for the police in Dessau-Roßlau.

Using a cover address, she is said to have expressed romantic feelings for the right-wing extremist assassin Stephan B. in love letters.

In addition, the young woman is said to have revealed a tendency to right-wing extremist conspiracy fantasies.

In mid-September, the Police Department initiated disciplinary proceedings against her to remove her from duty.

She anticipated this by applying for a dismissal herself.

The State Ministry of the Interior did not confirm the process.

Stephan B. was sentenced to life imprisonment and preventive detention at the end of 2020.

He wanted to carry out an assassination attempt on the synagogue in Halle in October 2019 and shot two people after the attack failed.
