EXCLUSIVE. The famous chef will play his own role in the daily front page series, alongside Clément Rémiens, Aurélie Pons, Mikaël Mit

It's a surprise transfer.

Removed from “Top Chef” by M 6 after eight seasons as a judge, Michel Sarran is about to become… an actor!

At the age of 60, the Toulouse cook will join the filming of "Here everything begins", the daily successful series of TF 1 from next week. No character of composition since he will play his own role, and will direct a jury responsible for electing the best cooking institute.

Michel Sarran in "Here everything begins", the announcement is surprising!

MICHEL SARRAN.

Eh yes !

(He smiles.) Sarah Farahmand, the producer, offered me this offer.

And I admit that I was surprised myself.

But touched and excited to do something different.

I only allowed myself a short time to think it over.

Especially since it is a character of composition but without really being, since I play my own role.

Would you have refused if you had been offered a different role?

It has happened to me before (

in "Léo Mattéï" in 2019

).

But the idea of being myself, of embodying what I am in life, really appealed to me.

Especially in a cooking institute, where I am president of a jury.

Which is not far from reality since, during the shooting, I will have to take a break to go and give an award.

And for the texts, there is less pressure since the words will have to be mine.

How long are you going to stay on the show?

I have about a month of filming so far.

We'll see after.

But it's not my job and I also need time for my business.

It is not a professional retraining.

I just want to have fun.

And I'm not at all claiming a role in a big Hollywood movie.

(Laughs)

To read also "It's the only classic TV program that holds me back": at La Villette, they are all fans of the series "Here everything begins"

Is the world of cooking well represented for you?

It's not really fiction to me.

These institutes really exist in our professional world, they send us interns.

It's a bit my daily life.

And it also helps shed light on these establishments that we need.

This is also what attracted me.

And from what I watched, the coaches do their job well, because the cooking is rather well done.

For the Toulouse chef, “the cooking is rather well done” in the TF1 soap opera.

When you announced your departure from "Top Chef", M 6 had announced that she had plans for you.

It hasn't happened yet.

But life is long.

I'm not closing the door on anyone.

I have no particular resentment.

It was the end of a story, but there is no animosity.

It was a bit difficult at the time, but it's been digested since.

Did you warn them of your arrival in "Here everything begins"?

No.

You are going to teach them.

(Laughs)

At the same time as the shoot, on November 10, you publish a book “Un Chef dans ma cuisine” (Michel Lafon editions).

The editor challenged me to take 80 recipes from Marmiton (

a cooking site

) to adapt them.

And I must admit that I was a little skeptical at first.

I know their community of course, but it's not a source I go to for my recipes.

But to make this cuisine accessible, for me to enter the world of Marmiton, it was very interesting.

I had a month to prepare everything.

Even if it was not necessarily easy!

It's a bit of a “Top Chef” event, actually.

(Laughs) It's still different.

There, it is not a competition, I accompany people to simplify the cooking.

And curiously, I took a lot of pleasure, because I realized that it was perfect for sharing, both cooking and tasting.
