(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 06 - At least 99 people died following the explosion that took place last night in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, caused by the collision between a tanker full of fuel and a truck in a service station.
The wounded hospitalized are about a hundred.
The fire that broke out after the explosion spread throughout the surrounding neighborhood, causing victims in the cars and in several adjacent streets.
According to a rescuer's reconstruction, most of the victims were street vendors and motorcyclists who were killed while trying to recover fuel leaking from the tanker.
