Thomas Pesquet is preparing to land after more than six months in space.
From the window of the International Space Station, the French astronaut photographed planet Earth from different angles.
With his Nikon D5, he often focused on France and its cities.
From Brest via Angers, Rouen, Metz or Marseille, for the end of his mission, he challenged himself on social networks to publish a photo of a city every day.
A work started since the beginning of his trip in space.
In a series devoted to Breton towns, this Norman of origin explains that “
the Space Station always arrives above France either from the south-west (we then first fly over Spain) or from the north-west.
".
"
Brittany is often the first land in sight after the Atlantic Ocean,
" he explains.
Coastal towns are also more photographed because they are easier to guess from space.
“
Far from the coast, cities are more difficult to locate.
The eye lacks landmarks, especially during the day when the color contrasts are weak,
”he explains on the social network Flickr where he shares and comments extensively on his photos.
