Alexa, Amazon's voice assistant, today turns off its third candle in Italy, its seventh in the United States.

"In the first three years since arrival in Italy, active users using Alexa have grown over 80% year on year and in 2021 alone there are over 5 billion interactions between users in Italy", says Gianmaria Visconti, Country Manager by Amazon Alexa.

In three years it has recorded 10 billion interactions, 450 million hours of music listened to, 28 million calls. A curiosity: over 7 million times, in the last year alone, users have told her "I love you". Among the other popular requests to Alexa: what's on TV, how many days are left until Christmas, the saint of the day. There are over 140,000 Alexa-compatible smart home devices worldwide.

Alexa's features in Italy are the result of the commitment of a community of developers made up of over 54,000 members.

"We would not have obtained these results without the combination of several factors - concludes Visconti - first and foremost the work carried out by the Italian team: 50 colleagues, including Language Engineers and Data Scientists, from our Research and Development center in Turin, who in recent years have improved Alexa's linguistic understanding by approximately 70%.
