The first message came on Saturday on Twitter, later the US rapper Travis Scott also spoke on Instagram.

"I am absolutely shocked by what happened last night," wrote the 29-year-old.

During his performance on Friday night in Houston, Texas, at the Astroworld music festival, there was a mass panic.

Eight people died and more than 300 were injured.

The authorities are investigating.

Houston's police chief Troy Finner urged calm and urged people not to jump to conclusions about the causes.

Many details are not yet known.

They are currently investigating various leads to investigate the incident.

Travis Scott has been organizing the festival since 2018. He is determined to work with the Houston community to support families in need, the rapper wrote.

His thoughts are with all concerned.

Scott also shared this message in short black and white videos on Instagram.

"We are currently working to find the families of the victims to help them through this difficult time," he said.

"My fans mean the world to me."

"Travis and I are shaken."

The rapper indirectly commented on allegations that he had not canceled the concert early enough. As soon as he noticed on stage that something was wrong, he would always intervene, he said in the Instagram video. According to a report by the Houston Chronicle, Scott is said to have briefly stopped the program several times during his 75-minute performance when he noticed that some visitors were in distress near the stage. He asked the security staff to help people and see if everyone was okay. Emergency vehicles with flashing lights and alarms are said to have driven through the crowd several times. Scott asked for all information to be passed on to the authorities.

And Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott's friend, posted a story on Instagram about the incident: "Travis and I are shaken." She also wanted to make it clear that neither she nor Travis Scott were aware of deaths.

The news only reached them after the show.

Otherwise she would never have continued to film or perform.

The two-day festival was sold out, according to the report, 50,000 spectators had come to Houston.

Artists like SZA and Bad Bunny should appear.

The event was canceled after the incident.

Last year the festival was canceled due to the corona pandemic.
