This past Friday afternoon, British police boarded a plane that had just landed at London Stansted Airport.
They arrested a 55-year-old passenger on suspicion of an antisemitic hate crime that had occurred during a previous flight, 24 hours earlier.
The man was identified as one of the fans of the English football team West Ham United, and as someone who shouted blatant antisemitic slogans against an ultra-Orthodox Jewish passenger who tried to find his seat on a Ryanair flight from London to Belgium.
The suspect was said to be part of a group of fans who flew to watch their team last Thursday, while playing in Belgium.
The football team club said they were "shocked" by the behavior of the fans, and promised to impose sanctions on them and boycott them for an indefinite period.

Essex County Police, who are in charge of Stansted Airport, said they began an investigation as soon as they learned of a video documenting the abuse experienced by the ultra-Orthodox passenger on the part of the fans.
This video, in which the fans are seen singing songs while the ultra-Orthodox passenger passes by them, is shared on social media.
"The police will not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind," Essex Police Chief Tom Simmons said.
"After we learned of the incident this morning, officers acted quickly to ensure the suspect's arrest as soon as possible," Simmons added.
The Paddle Your Own Kanoo airport website reports that police have handed over another key taken to the local police station, where he is being questioned.
Police asked eyewitnesses who watched the incident to contact them to assist in the investigation.
A spokesman for the West Ham United football team said "we have zero tolerance for any form of discrimination".
He added that "any person identified will be removed from the club indefinitely. Equality, diversity and inclusion are the heart of the football club, and we do not welcome anyone who does not share these values."
Ryanair did not respond to the incident and did not state why the air crew had not reported the incident to police earlier.
