After a knife attack in an ICE in Upper Palatinate, two of the four injured are still being treated in hospital.
The Upper Palatinate police said this in a press conference.
Accordingly, the suspect stabbed fellow travelers in several train cars in the ICE 928 suddenly and indiscriminately.
First, according to the investigating authorities, a 26-year-old was attacked and seriously injured in the head.
A 60-year-old suffered cuts to his head and trunk, and a second 60-year-old also suffered injuries.
According to the police, the suspect then changed the wagon and inflicted several stab wounds in the upper body of a 39-year-old.
Reviewer suspects "paranoid schizophrenia"
So far, there has been no reliable knowledge of the motif.
An expert forensic psychiatrist, to whom the suspect spoke after his arrest, assumes, according to the chief state attorney, a possible "paranoid schizohprenia and delusional ideas".
The accused stated that he felt he was being persecuted by the police who were sending men "to drive him crazy".
No police action was taken against the person.
He began some of the deeds "as if in a dream."
