A man attacked a ten-year-old boy with a kitchen knife in a clothing store in Munich.
As reported by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), the boy was shopping with his parents and brother in the "TK Maxx" clothing store on Neuhauser Strasse.
According to the Munich police, he was in the area of the escalator from the 1st to the 2nd floor when suddenly a 57-year-old man stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
The child was injured in the neck and shoulder, the police said on Sunday.
Witnesses provided first aid to the child while other customers overpowered the perpetrator.
Police forces, who came with more than ten patrols, arrested the suspect shortly afterwards.
The man is therefore a stateless person residing in Munich.
He is being investigated for an attempted homicide.
He should be brought before the judge on Sunday.
The perpetrator's motive is unclear.
According to investigators, there is probably no evidence that perpetrators and victims knew each other, according to the BR.
The man did not make a psychologically abnormal impression when he was arrested.
The boy is in the hospital.
His injuries are reportedly serious but not life-threatening.
