Over a hundred e-scooters were recovered in several dives in the Rhine near Cologne.
A total of 113 e-scooters were taken out of the water, 51 of which divers last pulled out on four working days in October and November.
This was reported by the E-Scooter Association Platform Shared Mobility (PSM) on Monday at the end of the long-running work that had been carried out in cooperation with the Krake citizens' initiative.
Dozens of scooters have been picked up by the respective operators and have already been recycled, while others are still waiting to be picked up.
Some hotspots not yet searched
Sinking e-scooters in water is "a particularly serious form of vandalism," emphasized PSM.
Previously, the WDR had quoted the chairman of the Krake garbage collection initiative, according to which some hotspots had not yet been searched.
In other large cities such as Munich, Hamburg or Berlin, too, electric scooters are repeatedly disposed of in bodies of water.
The recovery of the scooter is complex and not cheap.
The rental companies often pay sluggishly.
