"Doctors, nurses and health care professionals in the emergency room deal with emergencies on a daily basis and often work under stressful conditions. This is why I have proposed that an ancillary allowance be added to their salaries from next year. It will serve to strengthen the front line of the our National Health Service to which we must all say Thanks ".

The Minister of Health,

Roberto Speranza

, announces it on Fb

.

Order of doctors

- "Well the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza: the ancillary allowance for doctors in the emergency room goes in the direction we wish, that is to make the public system attractive, but now we need to eliminate the ceiling on personnel spending and also invest on local doctors, both in terms of emergency-urgency and primary care ". Thus the president of Fnomceo, the National Federation of the Orders of Doctors,

Filippo Anelli

, comments on the planned incentive of ninety million euros in total to be allocated to those who work on the front line. "The intervention of the minister, who proposed an ancillary allowance for doctors and nurses in the emergency rooms, goes in the direction desired by Fnomceo: that of making our public health service attractive, stemming the bleeding of specialized professionals precisely from these crucial principals. It is sacrosanct to enhance the work and professionalism of these colleagues, not only by improving their working conditions, but also with economic incentives - explains Anelli -. The unsustainable rhythms, the very high level of psychophysical stress, the high risk of assaults, the proliferation of complaints and subpoenas demotivate the doctors who work in the emergency rooms, pushing them to move to other departments or to migrate to the private sector. Only last week there were two attacks in an emergency room, while this morning the violence perpetrated in Pozzuoli, where the relative of a patient tried to strangle a doctor ".

The same "

attention must be paid to the 118 staff, who manage the emergency-urgency in the area

", he adds.

As for hospitals, it is "the time to take a further step, and eliminate the ceiling for staff spending, which for many years, before the increases desired by Minister Giulia Grillo and then by Speranza himself, had to correspond to the reduced 2004 amount. 1.4 percent - continues Anelli -. It is also necessary to understand the other reasons, if any, for the failure to hire doctors, to remedy them ".

Finally, "it is necessary to invest, to strengthen it, in local medicine, which - concludes Anelli - must be the true front office of the national health service".

Fiaso, indemnity is just recognition to those on the front line

 - The ancillary allowance to be added to the salaries of those who are "on the front line, announced by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza, represents a fair recognition of the commitment carried out in the ward by emergency-urgency professionals and a concrete incentive for staff to choose and stay in the emergency department where there is the greatest need ". Thus Giovanni Migliore, President of the Italian Federation of Healthcare and Hospitals (Fiaso), commented on the proposal made in the last hours by Minister Speranza. "In addition to the indemnity - said Migliore - also prevention and deterrence interventions are needed, with operational protocols for the safety of health personnel to be adopted in synergy with the police forces".Emergency rooms have always been the trenches of hospitals, says Migliore: "Here emergencies arrive to be handled, ambulances go by with sirens blaring, the most serious patients arrive. Every day thousands and thousands of cases pass through the emergency room and undergo operators to a considerable workload and stress. To this we must add the episodes of violence and intolerance that occur both in large cities and in suburban centers. In the last month alone we have counted 15 attacks against doctors, nurses and health workers on duty in the Italian emergency rooms. The most striking was the blitz no vax against Umberto I. But the violence - concludes President Fiaso - follows one another every day from Pesaro to Pozzuoli, from Vittoria to Trento, passing through Prato, Cerignola, Lucca, just to mention the latest cases ".

Regions, the indemnity P.Soccorso is good

- "It is essential to guarantee what can be considered the outpost of public health, that is the first aid station. For this reason, the provision in the maneuver of a new ancillary allowance for doctors and nurses engaged in this sector, advocated and supported on several occasions by the Conference of the Regions, is extremely positive ".

Raffaele Donini

states this

, Councilor of the Emilia-Romagna Region and Coordinator of the Health Commission of the Conference of the Regions of the Autonomous Provinces, commenting on the announcement of the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza.

"In fact, the maximum commitment of the institutions is needed to stop the exodus of health personnel from the emergency rooms, recognizing - Donini underlines - the specificity of the particular conditions of those called to operate in such contexts, often characterized by situations of utmost urgency".
