(ANSA-AFP) - MANAGUA, 08 NOV - The outgoing president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, was re-elected with 75% of the votes: this is what emerges from the official partial results of the elections held yesterday.
"The elections of November 7 complete the conversion of Nicaragua into an autocratic regime", comments EU High Representative Josep Borrell, stressing that "following the social protests that erupted in the spring of 2018, the Nicaraguan government unleashed violence against its own people, leaving behind itself death, enforced disappearances, incarcerations, ill-treatment and mass exile and transforming the country into a republic of fear ".
Criticism also from the US with the American president Joe Bidenche defines the presidential elections in the country as "bogus".
