838,000 French people followed the Republicans' first debate on LCI

On LCI this Monday evening, 4.4% of the public followed the interventions of Michel Barnier, Xavier Bertrand, Éric Ciotti, Philippe Juvin and Valérie Pécresse.


It was the very first debate of the Republicans primary in view of the presidential election of 2022. Monday evening on LCI, 838,000 viewers, or 4.4% of the public, followed the speeches of Michel Barnier, Xavier Bertrand, Eric Ciotti, Philippe Juvin and Valérie Pécresse.

Hosted by Ruth Elkrief and David Pujadas, the debate, in which Le Figaro and RTL were partners, recorded a peak audience of 1.1 million viewers at 9:06 p.m.

And throughout the evening, 3.8 million French people in total went to LCI.

This good score enabled the Bouygues group's news channel to achieve its fourth best audience ever.

And his highest score for a political debate for almost three years.

By way of comparison, last September, the debates around the primary environmentalist had respectively attracted 200,000 viewers, or 1% of the public for the first, and 265,000 people (1.3% audience) for the second.

After this first round of the Republicans primary, three other confrontations are still scheduled: November 14 on BFMTV, November 21 on CNews and finally November 30 on France 2.
