In Bavaria, 12-year-olds are only allowed to go to the cinema to be vaccinated or recovered - although the Stiko advised against excluding minors. Exceptions to the 2G rule apply to club sports, for example.

Schoolchildren from the age of 12 in Bavaria only come to the cinema, stadium or concerts vaccinated or recovered.

This was confirmed by Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

In Bavaria, due to the corona crisis, 2G has been in effect for many facilities and events since Tuesday, which means: Access is only permitted with proof of vaccination or a survived corona infection.

The rule is controversial, as the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko), when recommending that children and adolescents between 12 and 17 years be vaccinated against the coronavirus, expressly opposed “that vaccination is a prerequisite for social participation in children and adolescents is made «.

According to Söder, there should be a temporary exception rule for 12 to 17 year olds for club sports, music lessons or theater groups.

This applies until the end of the year.

Söder would like to increase the vaccination rate among the under 18-year-olds.

Saxony has also introduced 2G due to the tense coronavirus situation, but children and young people up to at least 16 years of age are allowed to take advantage of such offers if they have been tested.

Baden-Württemberg and Hamburg have also created exceptions for children and young people from the 2G regulation, which has not been introduced across the board.

The spokesman for the Hamburg social authority emphasized, however, that the exception rule should be reassessed in perspective.
