The new injection campaign is taking shape.
Emmanuel Macron detailed, in his speech this Tuesday, the schedule of the recall campaign for the anti-Covid vaccine.
Open since the end of August, it will be extended in the coming weeks to 50-64 year olds.
Since its launch, the booster dose - which can be done from six months after the last injection - concerns nursing home residents, all people over 65 and people at risk and those with co-morbidities.
Health professionals, already affected by an obligation to have a health pass to work, also had the possibility of taking advantage of a booster dose since the beginning of October.
Those vaccinated with Janssen serum may also receive a third dose four weeks after their single injection.
50-64 year olds from the beginning of December
If Emmanuel Macron announced to condition the health pass to a third dose for those over 65, from December 15, the President of the Republic also announced a new schedule with the objective of extending the third dose.
Thus, the 50-64 year olds will be the target of a recall campaign from “the beginning of December”, announced Emmanuel Macron.
"If you were vaccinated more than six months ago, I call on you to protect yourself now by making an appointment", also added the President of the Republic.
The third dose is a major issue in the fight against Covid-19.
Studies show that the effectiveness of the vaccine declines over time and that a booster dose, after several months, helps to strengthen protection.
Israel, the first country to have vaccinated a large part of its population, was also the first to launch a massive recall campaign to counter a resurgence of the epidemic.
