Dutch police strike a drug gang

In the Netherlands, police officers have broken up an international drug gang. Around 250 Dutch officials and around 25 investigators from Belgium were on duty.

The emergency services searched objects in several places - including in Eindhoven, Utrecht and Bergeijk: In the early morning around 250 Dutch officers and around 25 investigators from Belgium were on duty against an internationally operating drug gang.

Six people have been arrested so far, the police said on Tuesday in Bergeijk in the south-east of the country.

The action is directed against the production of and trade in synthetic drugs, especially in the border area with Belgium.

The main suspect is a 32-year-old man.

More arrests are expected, the police said.

In doing so, they are working closely with Germany and Belgium.

The suspects are said to be between 20 and 34 years old.

You are believed to be a member of the gang and are believed to have manufactured and traded synthetic drugs.

In the course of the investigation, several drug laboratories in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany had already been dismantled since May 2020.

In Germany it was reportedly about production facilities in Ruppach and Kassel.

The investigators had found the gang through the evaluation of special messenger services.
