A farmer couple from New Zealand was amazed when they made a find in their garden.
Now they could even land in the Guinness Book of Records.
Hobby gardeners may know it: when you harvest potatoes in the garden, you will always find a specimen that looks different from the others.
One or the other potato may even be bigger and heavier.
A couple from New Zealand made one such find.
The two were in the process of digging up the garden when the husband discovered
something strange on the surface of the earth
.
At first he suspected a mushroom plant, but on closer inspection it turned out to be a huge potato.
And it could now make it into the Guinness Book of Records.
Gardening: a huge potato weighs just under eight kilograms
Colin Craig-Brown told New Zealand news service Newshub: "The fork of the spade was suddenly in there and I pulled the thing out and just thought: What in the world is that?" And his wife Donna added: "We could do it don't believe. ”The
huge potato weighs a proud 7.9 kilograms
and could replace the heaviest potato in the world to date - this was determined in Great Britain in 2011 and weighed 4.98 kilograms, as
reported by
the
Tagesschau
.
Whether the potato will make it into the Guinness Book of Records with its weight remains to be seen.
However, the couple submitted an application.
