(ANSA) - NEW YORK, NOVEMBER 08 - The governor of the Fed LaelBrainard had an interview at the White House for the role of president of the Fed. The Bloomberg agency reports it citing some sources, according to which Brainard was at the White House last week.
The interview signals an acceleration in the election for the Fed presidency. And indicates that Jerome Powell has a rival for the leadership of the central bank.
Powell's mandate expires in February and Joe Biden has not yet dissolved his reservations amidst the pressure of the progressive democrats who are demanding a change of pace and the replacement of Powell, who in their opinion should not be reconfirmed at the head of the Fed. (ANSA).
