Since before the so-called '

white semester

' began,

politics has been wondering who the next President of the Republic should be

when Sergio Mattarella's successor will have to be elected starting from the first days of February 2022 by the Parliament meeting in common session.

To try to understand the interest aroused on the net by the race to the Quirinale,

ANSA and DataMediaHub

analyzed the conversations on the subject on Facebook, which is certainly the social platform with the largest number of Italians and therefore the most representative of their opinions.

The analysis focused on two key words:

Quirinale

and

President of the Republic

. The conversations and interactions, in the last thirty days, within the pages and public groups of Facebook, in Italian, were analyzed for both keywords.

In the period under consideration, 7,495 posts relating to quirinale were published, generating more than 1.9 million interactions. The three posts that generated the greatest number of interactions, and therefore the greatest involvement, are related

to the hypothesis of Berlusconi's appointment as President of the Republic.

Both the two posts of the journalist of the

Fatto Quotidiano Andrea Scanzi

and that of the

Spokesperson of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, Leonardo Cecchi,

they are very critical of this hypothesis as are the comments and reactions of the people. An opinion that seems to be shared also at a general level given that, according to an

Index Research survey

carried out for the broadcast of La7, Piazza Pulita, and aired on 29 October last,

only 10.4% of Italians would like the knight at the Quirinale

.

Just over 7

thousand posts related to the President of the Republic

which generated more than

1.4 million interactions.

The post that generated the greatest number of interactions is always by

Scanzi

and is related to the

denial of Liliana Segre

after the newspaper for which the journalist in question works had launched a petition, which in a few days collected almost 108,000 signatures.

The Italians also appear

relatively 'cold' compared to the hypothesis of Draghi

as President of the Republic,

preferring for him the current role of Prime Minister

, and favoring the hypothesis of a

second term for Mattarella

.

The administrative games were over for the Quirinale.

We will continue to monitor online conversations on the subject and will come back to update you on this subject when we are closer to the actual election of the President of the Republic.
