Nicaragua: Parliament elections, 75 out of 90 seats to Sandinistas

(ANSA) - MANAGUA, 09 NOV - The Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) of President Daniel Ortega obtained 75 of the 90 seats in Nicaragua's parliament in Sunday's elections. The official newspaper La Voz del Sandinismo writes today.


    Citing the second bulletin on the vote count of the Supreme Electoral Council (Cse), the newspaper specifies that on the basis of 93.6% of the seats, the FSLN obtained 75 seats in the Parliament that takes office on 10 January 2022. The constitutionalist party, for its part , has collected ten decisions, while the remaining five go to four other minor parties.


    The president of the CSE, Brenda Rocha, also indicated that the Sandinistas also secured 15 of the 20 Segginicaraguans in the Central American Parliament (Parlacen).


    It must be remembered that in Sunday's elections, criticized by many countries, President Ortega was reconfirmed as power for a new five-year period with 75.92% of the votes.
