In the shadow of the discussions about children's vaccines for Corona, Beilinson Hospital examined, for the first time in the world, the extent of myocardial injury in corona vaccines using an MRI scan.
The results of the study found that myocarditis is only a mild disease and has no significant effect on heart function in most cases.
During the follow-up period all patients were discharged from the hospital.

The study was conducted among 15 patients aged 17-76 (mean age 32) who suffered from myocarditis after the first and second corona vaccine.
The researchers examined the extent of myocardial injury within a 42-day period of receiving the vaccines.
The study was performed using advanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologies that allow a very high degree of accuracy in diagnosing myocardial injury.

According to Dr. Ashraf Hamdan, Director of the Cardiac Imaging Unit, at the Beilinson Hospital Cardiology Department: "This study is the largest in the world to date, which has used advanced technologies to characterize the extent of heart damage in patients with myocarditis after vaccination against the corona virus. .
The study showed that this is a rare phenomenon that is characterized by a slight injury to the heart muscle and in light of this is not expected to affect the patients' health in the long term. "
Myocarditis - Myocarditis - occurs when the myocardium becomes inflamed.
This inflammation can affect the electrical conduction of the heart and reduce the heart's ability to circulate blood to the body.
This phenomenon most often occurs after the second vaccine is given, especially in men aged 16-30.
Following the phenomenon, the Ministry of Health initially refrained from recommending the vaccine for ages 12-15, but as the morbidity increased it became necessary and eventually proved itself as a good decision.
Among adolescents aged 12-15 the phenomenon has occurred among only a few, with 15 incidents reported so far, 12 of boys.
Myocarditis occurred in only a few individuals.

It should be noted that another study was also published in October by the Beilinson Hospital Cardiology Department in collaboration with the Clalit Institute for Research and Innovation, which showed that among the 2.5 million Israelis who were vaccinated against the coronavirus, only 54 were diagnosed with myocarditis.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) the members of the IDF Committee (Epidemic Treatment Team) will discuss the crucial discussion on vaccinations of children aged 5-11, according to Pfizer data. Myocarditis has also been reported as a result of the vaccine.
