What do you really know about the food that enters your home and especially your body? How much do you really care about your diet? If you have delayed in answering, note: Here are some popular foods that most of us tend to consume regularly. But if your health is important to you, you should start reducing their consumption and gradually avoid them altogether.

White foods:

No, the reference is not to white cabbage nor to quinoa, but to foods like white flour, or simple rice that is really not worth consuming. Unlike "whole" foods like whole rice or whole wheat flour, such white foods are "empty." The reason they are so named, stems from the fact that they do not contain essential components, and this is due to their manufacturing process during which the outer part of the wheat kernel is removed. Since this part actually contains all the essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids, products that do not contain it do not contribute to health and may even be harmful to it. Moreover, regular consumption of these foods can be detrimental to health and lead to a variety of problems - from diabetes through impaired absorption of various vitamins and minerals to high blood pressure and heart problems.

Refined oils:

It refers to processed oils that have undergone industrialization.

Cheap canola oil, for example, is a very popular oil sold in various supermarket chains, and not many are aware that it is not recommended for consumption due to the production process that harms its good values.

Margarine is also a trans fat that is not recommended for consumption at all.

In contrast, cold-pressed organic canola oil is an essential and good oil recommended for daily consumption.

In order to choose a quality oil, it is important to make sure that it is organic and produced by cold pressing or alternatively that it is a virgin oil.

All other oils are not recommended for consumption because in the long run they can lead to damage to the blood vessels, and thus also lead to narrowing of arteries and stroke.

Monosodium glutamate:

This well-known ingredient, which consists of sodium, is found in soup powders, snacks and other industrial products, among other things. Its main function is to improve the taste of the product, and also to make us consume more and more of the product (as manufacturers often hope we probably do). Bottom line - Regular use of monosodium glutamate may make you enjoy the food more, but it can damage blood vessels and affect health. Hence, the recommendation is not to purchase any products containing this component. To enrich the taste of the food, you can use spices like paprika, turmeric or cinnamon. Apart from great taste, you will also gain other nutritional values that the spices contain.

Diet products:

Many believe that if we just replace the sugar in coffee with a natural sweetener, we can maintain the shape and also enjoy a sweet taste. The problem is that various sugar substitutes are usually made from simple chemicals, and some even contain - get ready for shock: petroleum. Now think about whether you really want oil in your coffee. Not really, right?

Processed meat:

Sausages and hot dogs are industrially processed meats, so they are not recommended for consumption. These usually contain harmful substances to the body like processed starches, sugars, flavor enhancers and stabilizers. Their job is mainly to improve the taste and also to extend the shelf life of the product. But at the same time, they also harm the body and increase the risk of various diseases, most notably cancer. By the way, some of the processed meat products also contain tyramine - a carcinogen that is banned from use and created in the product after the production process. They may also contain nitrites and nitrates - chemicals used in industry as preservatives. These substances are toxic and form carcinogenic compounds.

Sweets:

Candy, toffee, marshmallows and all the other sweets can definitely improve our mood (and especially for children).

But the health price we pay when we consume them is extremely high.

The sweets contain mostly synthetic food colors and a lot of sugar that is harmful to dental health and can also lead to diabetes, attention and concentration problems and other dubious pleasures.

By the way, blue candies are usually the most harmful of all, as it is a synthetic color that does not contain any natural ingredient.

The good news is - you should not give up on sweets.

You can make date and cocoa balls from natural ingredients, banana and oatmeal muffins with a little quality honey, or just mix a little whole tahini with a teaspoon of sesame seeds and spread on a nice slice of rye.

To sum up: Remember that a healthy diet affects our overall health. Strive to completely avoid consuming empty foods like white rice and white bread; Prefer using spices over using monosodium glutamate; Give up diet products and processed meats and do not be tempted to keep sweets at home. Also, try to carefully examine the list of ingredients that the product contains - the longer it is, it probably indicates that it is less desirable to eat, because it contains a lot of flavors, preservatives and other unwanted ingredients. Remember that the component at the top of the list is also the most important in the product and the last one in it is in the smallest quantity.

At the same time, try to eat healthier and more nutritious: make sure you consume whole grains, legumes, good oils like avocado, olive oil or tahini and eat fish in doses.
