New turn of the screw in sight.
While the Covid-19 epidemic is experiencing a rebound, Gérald Darmanin announced on Wednesday that he had, on the instruction of Emmanuel Macron, asked the prefects to toughen the controls of the health pass, the number of which has halved in recent weeks.
"The President of the Republic, given the increase in the incidence rate, winter is coming, the virus is circulating more, asked me to ask the prefects, the police and the gendarmes to control more, as before", declared the Minister of the Interior on Europe 1.
“In September, we had roughly 50,000 people who were checked every week and about 8,000 establishments.
If I look at the figures of last week, it was about half, that is to say a little less than 25,000 people checked and 4,000 establishments ”, he detailed.
A call to get a booster shot
And the Minister of the Interior to concede: “We would all like the police and gendarmes to do something else.
We would all like to do something other than manage the health crisis ”.
Faced with the epidemic rebound, with "an increase of 40% in one week in the incidence rate", Emmanuel Macron put pressure on the seniors on Tuesday evening to be injected with a booster dose, on pain of losing their health pass from December 15th.
Concretely, the health pass for over 65s will be deactivated, in the absence of a booster dose, "6 months and 5 weeks" after the previous injection, from December 15, said Wednesday the spokesperson of the Gabriel Attal government.
