In the Eitan case, the public prosecutor in Pavia has issued two international arrest warrants, according to media reports.
Eitan Biran lost his parents, two great-grandparents and his brother in a cable car crash on Lake Maggiore in May.
Since then, relatives have been arguing about where the boy should live.
As the newspaper Corriere della Sera reported, the arrest warrants are directed against the grandfather of the then five-year-old boy and an alleged accomplice: They had strategically planned to bring Eitan to Israel.
The extradition of the two men had been requested.
The maternal grandfather is said to have brought Eitan to Tel Aviv against a court order.
According to media reports, Eitan was born in Israel but moved to Italy with his parents shortly after he was born.
Therefore, he has an Israeli and an Italian passport.
A lawyer for Eitan's paternal aunt, Aya Biran-Nirko, upheld the arrest warrant for the grandfather.
She had taken Eitan into her home in Pavia after the cable car crash.
The family around the maternal grandfather continue to fight against attempts to bring Eitan back to Italy.
A hearing at the district court is planned for this Thursday.
