There are the two smallest in the world: Caffè Mulassano and Caffè al Bicerin, both in Turin. But also some of the largest, such as the Pedrocchi in Padua, a real monumental complex. And then the most copied in the world, despite the battle to defend themselves with international patents, namely the historian Florian in Venice, the Caffè Greco in Rome, the Cova in Milan. But there is also the most "rowdy", the Gran Caffè Giubbe Rosse in Florence, which at the beginning of the twentieth century became a real ring between tables of the most beautiful fights and fights of the protagonists of Futurism. Up to the oldest, such as the Oste Scuro Finsterwirt restaurant in Bressanone, which was already open in 1200. For the first time in their very long history, in many cases multi-centenary, the historic restaurants ofItaly open their doors all together for the first National Day dedicated to them, scheduled for November 13th. A great party to discover the beauty, stories and secrets of these places that over the years have become, and with good reason, true ambassadors of Made in Italy in the world and a destination for tourists and enthusiasts.

"An excellent cocktail can only be obtained from excellent materials", recalls Enrico Magenes, president of the Italian Historical Places Association, citing Jerry Thomas and his Manual of the true pleasure-seeker, now considered the Bible of drinks. "And in Italy - he adds - we have many excellences, starting from all those historic places that live in the continuous commitment to the best but respecting culture and history. Because spirits and dreams, in the end, are not so far away. ". To tell it for a day, from north to south, up to Lugano in Switzerland, will be the rich calendar of events, guided tours and tastings spread in 75 places including hotels, restaurants, trattorias, confectioners, pastry shops, grapperie, literary cafes (for info and reservations: www.localistorici.it).So in Bologna you dream of the luxurious Grand Hotel Majestic "already Baglioni", frequented by the souls of Futurism such as Marinetti, Balla, Boccioni and Carrà, but also stars such as Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner, Lady Diana and Sofia Loren. At the Vèdel di Colorno (Parma), where Napoleon's wife Maria Luigia lived, you can discover the aging cellar of the Culatelli of Podere Cadassa and the historic recipe of Tortel Dols of Colorno. In Rome, the Antico Caffè Greco is not just a journey through art and culture with an endless list of illustrious guests (Liszt, Bizet, Wagner, Goethe, Casanova, Stendhal and even Buffalo Bill have passed through here), but legend has it that if a cardinal sits down at one of his tables he will become Pope. So at least it happened to Gioacchino Pecci, later elected Leo XIII.frequented by the souls of Futurism such as Marinetti, Balla, Boccioni and Carrà, but also stars such as Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner, Lady Diana and Sofia Loren. In Naples, however, there is not only the historic Gran Caffè Gambrinus, with a guided tour that goes back to the times of D'Annunzio, Matilde Serao, Croce and Hemingway, but for the most refined palates also the Gay Chocolate Factory Odin opens the doors wide, with tasting of the characteristic chocolate in the shape of Vesuvius, loved by Oscar Wilde and Eduardo De Filippo.

And again, how to lose the focaccia with cheese that made Manuelina famous in Recco throughout the Genoese area and far beyond.

Or at the Port of Savona, which however is in Turin, here is a very special tasting of various qualities of Vermouth.

Down to Palermo at the Antica Focacceria S. Francesco for typical street food paired with wines from the Duca di Salaparuta di Casteldaccia winery.
