Preparations are underway for the tenth edition of the European Day of Artisan Gelato, an initiative that the European Parliament celebrates on 24 March each year to promote and support artisan knowledge. The "Taste of the Year", proposed on March 24 in all ice cream parlors, will be "Dolce Sinfonia", a variant of chocolate and hazelnut based ice cream. The event foresees that on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Gelato Day, the best ice cream makers of the Old Continent will compete in a contest in two stages, at the Mig (International Exhibition of Artisan Gelato of Longarone-Fiere Dolomiti ((Belluno) on 29 November and at Sigep (International Exhibition of Gelato, Pastry and Artisan Bakery) in Rimini on January 24, 2022, to sign the recipe for Taste of the Year 2022.
The competition is organized at a European level by Artglace, in collaboration with Longarone Fiere Dolomiti and Italian Exhibition Group (Ieg).
Participation is free and open to all ice cream makers in Europe.
The Jury will be chaired by the president of Artglace and composed of four members chosen from among professionals in the sector.
The challenge foresees that the qualitative verification and the evaluation of the aesthetics of the tray will be followed by the evaluation of the products based on four parameters, fundamental and in order of importance, namely taste, structure, originality of the recipe and, finally, aesthetics of the tray.
The winner will be awarded on Tuesday 25 January 2022 at the Sigep in Rimini.
