Bundeswehr forces stopped a transporter after its daring drive on Autobahn 2.
Its driver had previously raced through an emergency lane between Magdeburg and Braunschweig and damaged several other vehicles on Thursday.
A total of four cars were damaged in the incident in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt, the traffic police said.
According to initial estimates, the damage amounts to around 70,000 euros.
Two vehicles had to be towed.
Driving license gone
The other road users had formed the rescue lane on the motorway during a traffic jam at a construction site.
The forces of the Bundeswehr happened to be there.
The 62-year-old driver had to surrender his driver's license and pay a deposit of 1000 euros.
He is now being investigated for driving on the rescue alley and for fleeing the accident.
